Discovering Your Centre

Meditation is a practice that fosters inner stillness, clarity and balance, by connecting the mind, body and breath.

How it Works

  1. Posture and Breath: Sit comfortably with your spine aligned and shoulders relaxed. Breath deeply, allowing the breath to naturally flow into your lower abdomen.

  2. Focus: Place your awareness on the area just below your navel (Dantien). Visualise this space as a warm glowing orb of light or energy.

  3. Visualisation: With each breath, imagine this light expanding and contracting gently, growing brighter and more vibrant.

  4. Integration: Over time, feel the connection between this centre and the resty of your body, drawing energy from the earth below and releasing tension with each exhale.

This meditation technique focuses on bringing your awareness to the Hara and Dantien, helping you ground your energy and anchor yourself in the present moment. Through intentional breathing and visualisation, it promotes:

  • Grounding: Feel rooted and stable, like a tree deeply connected to the earth.

  • Centredness: Develope a sense of calm strength that supports you through life’s challenges.

  • Energy Cultivation: Harness and nature your Qi, fostering vitality and wellbeing.

Hara and Dantien Meditation hold a special place in traditional Eastern healing practices, offering profound grounding and a deeper connection to your core.

What is Hara and Dantian?

  • The Hara refers to the centre of your being, located in the lower abdomen. It is often seen as the body’s energetic core, where vitality, stability, and resilience reside.

  • The Dantian, situated within the Hara, is a specific energy centre just below the navel. In Chinese Medicine and martial arts, the Dantien is considered the ‘elixir field’ or a reservoir of life. Together, the Hara and Dantien are central to practices that cultivate a sense of balance, strength, and connection with the natural flow of life energy.

Benefits of Hara and Dantien Meditation

  • Enhanced Calm and Clarity: Releasing mental clutter and fostering emotional resilience.

  • Improved Energy Flow: Unblocking and harmonising the body’s natural energy pathways.

  • Strengthened Connection: Aligning with your inner power and the energy of the world around you.

Regular practice of Hara and Dantien meditation can transform your sense of balance and vitality, offering a pathway to deeper self-awareness and harmony.
